The theme and its story: Jagannath Puri

The highlight of our set is Lord Jagannath of Puri who takes the centre-stage. Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu spent the last 24 years of his life in Puri dedicating it to the ecstatic worship of Lord Jagannath whom he considered a form of Krishna. He propagated the Sankirtana movement as part of the Gaudiya Vaishnavism there which laid great emphasis on devotional worship (bhakti) of Krishna.

Jagannath literally means "Lord of the Universe" and is considered as one of the most famous manifestations of Lord Vishnu. He is a part of a triad along with his brother Balarama and sister Subhadra.

The magnificent Jagannath Temple is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites, along with Dwarka, Rameshwaram and Badrinath. Saints such as Adi Sankaracharya, Ramanuja and Ramananda are closely related to the temple and this is one of the revered temples to the Vaishnavites.
